Championship promotion candidates Leeds United look set to revamp their defence when the transfer window reopens this summer
Sunderland defender Trai Hume has emerged as a summer transfer target for Leeds United. A number of English clubs, including the Whites, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Leicester City, are reportedly keeping close tabs on the player.
Hume has impressed for the Black Cats this season, making over 40 appearances for the Championship outfit. He has underlined his versatility in a topsy-turvy campaign, lining up in every position across the backline during the 2023/24 season.It is thought Sunderland shelled out in the region of £200,000 to sign Hume, who is primarily a full-back, two years ago. His present deal runs until the summer of 2027.
Title hopefuls United, who were knocked off their perch at the top of the Championship after drawing 2-2 at Watford on Good Friday, are expected to bring in a number of defensive reinforcements this summer. It looks increasingly unlikely that Liam Cooper, Stuart Dallas and Luke Ayling will be offered fresh terms while loan duo Joe Rodon and Connor Roberts will head back to Tottenham and Burnley respectively following the climax of the promotion race.
