The Rhinos fans have a date for their diaries.
Leeds Rhinos ' annual pre-season opener will return this year as they host Wakefield Trinity on Boxing Day. In the annual Wetherby Whaler, AMT Headingley will see the two clubs get together for a festive fixture to accelerate preparations for the new season.
It could be the first opportunity for Leeds fans to see the club's new signings in action. The likes of Brodie Croft, Andy Ackers, Paul Momirovski, Lachie Miller and Matt Frawley could all be in contention for run-outs in what has proven to be a popular fixture with supporters over the years. The game will be the first of many pre-season contests that the Rhinos take part in, with a game against Hunslet for the Harry Jepson OBE Memorial Trophy also an annual tradition. After a string of signings, the Rhinos will be hopeful of a better season in 2024. Rohan Smith's side finished eighth in Super League last year in what was a disappointing campaign for the club. That didn't stop them from placing top in IMG's illustrative grading table, with the Rhinos scoring more points than any other club in the first round of scores.
Leeds were one of seven clubs to receive an 'A' grade, alongside current Super League champions, Wigan Warriors, St Helens, Catalans Dragons, Warrington Wolves, Hull KR and Hull FC.
