Leeds Bradford Airport is now scheduled to open at 2pm this afternoon, it has been announced.
However, several announcements have been made already this morning, first saying it would be open by 10am, then at 11am. People are being advised not to travel to terminal before 2pm. It comes as staff continue to clear up after a flight from Corfu skidded off the runway in torrential conditions yesterday afternoon with the aircraft eventually coming to rest on the grass. None of the 195 passengers and crew were injured.
We strongly advise passengers to contact their airline to check the status of their flight.” The TUI plane skidded off the Tarmac when landing because of the adverse weather conditions of Storm Babet. Witnesses said that the flight was “almost sideways” as it came in to land due to the fierce crosswinds. The departure boards continue to confirm that all flights departing from Leeds Bradford remain cancelled until early this afternoon.
