He later clarified on Twitter that he was not talking about the “substance” of the tweet, but about its “consequences and ramifications.” The star was slammed on Twitter, with fans accusing James of chasing money, while others got to work creating memes. Onewrote: “Clearly you are only a humanitarian out of convenience. When it impacts the bottom line to stand up for what is right you cower.”
LeBron was in China for two pre-season games between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets when the controversy erupted. His comments at the Lakers and Golden State Warriors pre-match press conference hint he felt that Morey’s comments endangered himself and the other NBA players.
