Sadie Sink, who plays StrangerThings' Max Mayfield, says leaving the beloved Netflix show after season 5 is going to be 'emotional' and 'awful.'

Sadie Sink is not looking forward to leaving Stranger Things. The young actor had her breakthrough role when she debuted as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things season 2. For the past six years, Sink and many of the Stranger Things cast members – such as Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp – have matured with the show itself.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY During a recent appearance on the Today show, Sink talked about growing up on the set of Stranger Things and discussed what it will be like leaving the show behind. The Max actor says that season 5 will be everything from "emotional" and "awful," to "horrible," "scary," and "sad." Despite that, she thinks it's "exciting" to be able to move on to the next chapter.

We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional I’m sure. Spoiler-free, just with the way my character ended in Season 4, I have no idea what is going to happen. But I’ll be there. It’s going to be awful. It’s going to be horrible. These kids, this entire cast and crew, it’s family. People say that all the time, but I genuinely mean it.

Stranger Things season 4 has already set the stage for a heart-wrenching last season with the death of the fan-favorite Eddie Munson . Also, Vecna nearly took Max's life, who ended season 4 in a coma and could still be under Vecna's control. With the Upside Down infiltrating Hawkins and Vecna's return impending, Stranger Things season 5 is likely to kill off a few more beloved characters.

With Stranger Things coming to an end, Sink will soon have to move on to the next chapter of her career. She has also appeared in Netflix's Fear Street trilogy, and Fear Street 4 has just received a promising update by hiring a director. Sink also stars in The Whale as the estranged teenage daughter of Brendan Fraser's character, which many have called the best performance of the young actor's career. Even after Stranger Things ends, Sink's future appears to be bright.
