Learn everything you wanted to know and more about the Cizeta V16T.
The Cizeta V16T was the ultimate in supercar excess. Designed as a collaboration between engineer Claudio Zampoli, designer Marcello Gandini, and, why not, musician Giorgio Moroder, it made a Lamborghini look mundane and, frankly, boring.
Originally dubbed the Cizeta-Moroder, thanks to Moroder's initial participation in the project, that second half of the name was dropped early on. Those who bought an example got one of the wildest supercars of all time. It was powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.0 liter V-16 engine that was mounted transversely behind the driver, hence the T in the name. That was linked to rear-wheel drive and a five-speed manual gearbox.
Like many supercars of the time from small companies, there were huge promises that weren't necessarily met. Not that it matters, it's still wildly exclusive. The company built just 13 of them between 1991 and 2003. That said, says that you can still order one for $800,000, so if you are reading this and have a new one, please let us know, because we'd love to check it out.
Iain Tyrrell, a British specialty mechanic who works on some outstandingly valuable stuff, went to check out a V16T in California and came back with a wealth of information from Zampoli's family as well as just looking under the skin.
