Americans picked up their spending a bit in August from July even as surging inflation on household necessities like rent and food took a toll on family budgets.
“August retail sales came in slightly ahead of expectations, but July sales were revised downward by a slightly greater margin," "The overall trend remains the same: Retail sales are growing, but mostly because of inflation.
