TheLastOfUs star Storm Reid, who will play Riley, teases an emotional episode and shares her excitement for the HBO series, which premieres tomorrow.
Storm Reid hints at her touching The Last of Us season 1 episode. Known for her roles in A Wrinkle in Time and Euphoria, Reid will portray Riley Abel in HBO's The Last of Us, an adaptation of the popular 2013 Naughty Dog video game of the same name. The series is set in a dystopian future in which much of humanity has succumbed to a fungal infection, which turns the infected into grotesque monsters over time.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Reid, who will appear in two episodes of The Last of Us season 1, teases one episode that she took part in. The actor delivers high praise for co-star Bella Ramsey, who will play protagonist Ellie in the series, calling her screen partner brilliant and describing her enthusiasm for the show in general.
"I had a great time. To be able to say that I shared a screen with Bella Ramsey is just incredible. I think she’s absolutely brilliant, and I can’t wait to see our episode. It was so much fun to film, and it was heartbreakingly beautiful. So I just can’t wait to see it all come together, and I’m just excited for the show and the universe as a whole. I didn’t play the video games, but I am definitely going to tune in every Sunday to watch every episode. I’m just so invested as a fan now.
Riley and Ellie's close bond offered both teens joy in dark times and, in some ways, gives them both a chance to act their age and be kids again – a theme which carries over to the show based on the few appearances from Riley in the marketing materials for the HBO series. The essential and touching camaraderie and affection shared by the pair will likely lead to even more heartbreak in The Last of Us once their story plays out, which Reid has hinted heavily.
The Last Of Us Has Already Earned Praise Reid is not alone in her praise for Ramsey or in her enthusiasm for the series as a whole, which has already earned extensive accolades before its release on HBO. The Last of Us season 1 has been called one of the best video game adaptations of all time by some critics, showing that the efforts, talent, and massive budget that went into the post-apocalyptic series have so far paid off.
