A Las Vegas man was charged with human trafficking for allegedly forcing a woman to go to Salt Lake City to engage in prostitution while he kept her children with him.
SALT LAKE CITY — A Las Vegas man was charged Thursday with forcing a woman to go to Salt Lake City to engage in prostitution because he believed business in Utah was good.
A woman told investigators that in 2014, while she was living in Las Vegas, Danford "showed her how to 'post herself online' to advertise for sexual service," according to charging documents. Between December 2014 and May 2015, the woman says Danford "would frequently" send her to Utah because he heard it was "good for business."
While she was in Salt Lake County, the woman said Danford kept her children with him in Las Vegas. She claims Danford intimidated her by telling her children they would never see their mother again and also threatened to call the woman's mother to tell her that her daughter was prostituting herself, the charges allege.
" reported Danford would 'get violent' every time she told him she no longer wanted to 'work,'" according to the charges.
