The Alaska House canceled a floor session Wednesday due to worries about COVID-19. Through an aide, Speaker of the House Louise Stutes said a “large portion of representatives have been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Staff for Reps. Sara Rasmussen, R-Anchorage, and Bart LeBon, R-Fairbanks, confirmed that those legislators have tested positive for COVID-19. LeBon and Rep. Ben Carpenter, R-Nikiski, participated in a morning meeting by teleconference. LeBon’s staff declined to say whether he has tested positive, and he did not respond to inquiries.
Business in the state Senate proceeded as scheduled Wednesday morning. All 20 senators were present, and Senate President Peter Micciche, R-Soldotna, said he is unaware of any close contacts between senators and someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
