In Lancashire, intrigue surrounding Unidentified Flying Objects has long captured the imagination. Rossendale "From what I've heard, somebody saw it at about midnight at Pennine Road in Bacup, but when I zoomed in on the photo, it looked more like an Unidentified Flying Object with a dome at the top. I've heard of space objects - but I never realised I would see one in reality. ".
In January 2009, Haslingden became the centre of extraterrestrial speculation after witnesses reported seeing over a dozen bright orange lights moving silently across the sky, followed by another sighting of a blue and purple flashing light hovering over Rossendale moor on February 6 for an extended period.
Four sightings including a rugby ball shaped object and a flaming black sphere are recorded above the city over the last couple of year, according to the UFO spotter website UFO Identified. More unexplained activity was seen in surroundings town and villages such as Leyland, Houghton and Buckshaw.
