Visitors can try clay shooting with Blackpool Sporting Clays or fly fishing with the team from GAIA. In the main arena, the Imperial Bird of Prey Academy will show off falconry skills, and the Dog and Duck Show will offer insights into sheepdog training and animal behaviour.Pic: Lancashire Game and Country Festival
“Since we started the festival seven years ago, it has doubled in size, which I think is a real testament to people’s increasing appetite for, and interest in, country sports and lifestyles.” As well as local artisans’ produce to sample and buy, the festival’s Food Theatre is to be hosted by TV’s Gary ‘The Cooking Cowboy’ McClure and features demonstrations by Honeywell’s Farm Shop, Hadrian’s Game Larder, and Black Powder Gin.
Horse classes include turned-out working hunters, heavy horses, ridden horses, ponies and their riders. In vehicles, this year, the festival offers one of the first chances to view the new and much-talked-about INEOS Grenadier 4X4, and there is a varied selection of Subarus and Ssangyongs.
