The Town of Smithtown public safety director says the situation exacerbated when Suffolk County police began investigating a dispute between the homeowner and a contractor. It's unclear exactly what happened, but the homeowner's belongings were thrown from the house into the yard.The town was able to get permission from the homeowner on Wednesday to clear the heaps of mess.
Suffolk County police arrested 40-year-old Anthony Connor, of Lake Grove, in connection to the situation. He is charged with engaging in home improvement without a license.
