Labour has suspended MP Andy McDonald after he made offensive comments at a pro-Palestine rally, using a phrase that has been deemed antisemitic. McDonald will sit as an independent MP while an investigation takes place.
LABOUR has suspended its MP Andy McDonald, claiming comments he made at a pro-Palestine rally were “deeply offensive”.
In a video shared by Mr McDonald on Twitter/X of his speech at the rally, he said: “We will not rest until we have justice. Until all people, Israelis and Palestinians between the river and the sea can live in peaceful liberty.”The action by Labour follows news that Tory MP Paul Bristow was sacked from his Government job after breaking ranks to publicly urge Rishi Sunak to push for a “permanent ceasefire” in Gaza on Monday.
He has said that Palestinian civilians are facing a “collective punishment” as a result of Israel’s siege and airstrikes campaign in the wake of Hamas’s bloodshed. Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
