Ruling group take key Tory seat but Green Party sees first ever councillor elected in borough
Labour remain in comfortable control of Sefton Council after a night that saw the Green Party gain their first ever seat on the council.
Amongst a sea of thumping holds in the Bootle and Sefton Central parts of the borough, Labour took the prize seat of Harington ward from Conservative Joe Riley. Karen Cavanagh won the seat by more than 600 votes. Speaking after the surprise win, Cllr Doolin said the result had been a "long time coming" and thanked those that had voted for him.
