A new image from the set of Sony's latest SpiderMan spinoff gives a new look at Aaron Taylor-Johnson as KravenTheHunter.
A new behind-the-scenes image of Aaron Taylor-Johnson on the set of the upcoming Kraven the Hunter has surfaced online. The actor had been cast to play the titular Spider-Man villain in the new standalone film from Sony Pictures and Marvel Entertainment, which will make it the fourth installment in Sony's Spider-Man Universe. Taylor-Johnson's description as Kraven had been teased before, but Sony has yet to release any official looks at the film.
Kraven the Hunter is due for a January 23, 2023 release by Sony. This also won't be the first time Taylor-Johnson will play a Marvel character, as he had previously played Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. His role as Kraven will be his introduction in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, which started with Venom in 2018.
While not much is revealed about what Kraven the Hunter's actual costume will look like or how close it'll resemble the look from the comics, the image is at least a good teaser of what's yet to come in the film. The expectations from fans on Twitter have varied as to how Kraven the Hunter will connect with films like Venom, its 2021 sequel, and the upcoming Morbius, due in theaters next weekend.
It's no secret that Sony has wanted to build up a large franchise centering around Spider-Man's many villains for quite a while. Kraven The Hunter is considered to be one of Spider-Man's greatest adversaries, but he hasn't been given the live-action treatment until now. Kraven the Hunter's release is still a ways away, so Sony may not reveal any official marketing material for a while.
