A mum has praised a local jewellers after they selflessly repaired a watch for her daughter that told the time using 'the voice of her granddad.
Emma and her grandfather held a special connection and often bonded over sentimental things - like Alan's watch. Emma, who was brain damaged at birth, lives a mostly independent life in a supported Preston community. "In the early days, as a family we needed lots of support and my parents and Emma's dad's parents were always brilliant. My dad discovered there was such a thing as a watch that could tell you the time and he wore it every single day - my stepmum thought Ems might like to have the watch as something of her grandad's and she absolutely love it.
After telling the story of Emma and her granddad, the "incredibly kind" staff were determined to help in any way they could - despite being unsure if the damage was already too far gone. Thankfully, after working their magic they were able to get the watch and the audible sound working again - to Karen and Emma's joy.
