Kent School District students have been out of school for nearly a week as the teacher strike continues. FOX13
Outside of all the obvious disruptions from a strike, food insecurity is now a major concern.
Parents are now stepping up to meet the demands, thanks to a $10,000 anonymous donation along with community contributions. On Thursday she and several others started preparing at least 3,000 meals including mac and cheese, goldfish, fruit snacks, granola bars, apple sauce, and juice which will be distributed across 17 schools during the holiday weekend.
Fox 13 reached out to the district asking why meals haven’t been distributed and if there was a plan in the works, but they did respond to our calls or emails.
