Ministers and police chiefs will be summoned for crisis talks with the Prime Minister over the riots gripping the country.
As fears mount over a fresh wave of violent disorder on the streets it has now been revealed that Keir Starmer will chair another emergency Cobra meeting tonight.
Starmer summoned the Cabinet this morning for a meeting, where he condemned the "violent disorder" gripping Britain's streets. He told ministers: "When I went to Southport I spoke to police who described what it was like to attend the mass stabbing of little girls and then to be back on duty the next day in riot gear, having bricks thrown at them.
Alexander said the courts "could possibly" begin sitting through into the night and at weekends to swiftly prosecute rioters.
