ITV presenter Kate Garraway reveals late husband Derek Draper was in 'a happy place' prior to his passing - and that they had their final conversation over the phone
This Morning host Kate Garraway has revealed that the last conversation she had with her husband, Derek Draper, before he passed was over the phone in December.
In an interview with The Times, Kate explains Derek was receiving treatment in Mexico last year. He was there at a brain cell clinic where his neural pathways showed “massive” improvement. Kate on her way to visit Derek when she received the devastating call. Kate continued to say: “We had more of Derek back. We always knew his injuries could take him, but it all felt so positive at that point, it was the furthest from my mind that anything could happen.”
In Mexico, Derek then underwent a 14-hour-long operation before being transported to an intensive care unit in a London hospital where according to Kate, “the writing was on the wall”.
