Kate Garraway has opened up about the financial struggles she has faced while caring for her late husband Derek Draper, who died in January after a long battle with long Covid
Kate Garraway's earnings and riches have been revealed as she discusses the crippling financial problems caused by her late husband Derek Draper's care. Kate shared in a recent ITV documentary that Derek's continuous treatment amounted to £16,000 per month leading to significant debts for her.
The programme brings to light Derek's health struggles following his virus contraction. Specific scenes show his caregiver Jake assisting him through hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help his recovery, reports the Mirror. Documentary director Lucy Wilcox then chimes in, admitting viewers might be 'surprised' to hear Kate discuss financial problems. She assumes people think Kate is "loaded" on account of her TV work.
"Derek's care, the basic needs, not including any therapy, which I am happy to pay on top, is nearly £4,000 a week. How can I afford that? How can anybody afford £16,000 a month? Please, God, there could be another 40 years of this."
