Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway has opened up about her new documentary that shares the story of her late husband Derek Draper, saying she 'hopes it helps' other people
Kate Garraway has opened up about her late husband, Derek Draper, ahead of their upcoming ITV documentary that shares his story.
The Good Morning Britain star spoke candidly with her co presenter Ed Balls about the new doc, which is aptly titled Derek's Story, sharing that she still "can't quite believe" Derek is gone, and that he's unable to watch his story. The 56 year old mother of two continued: "You can't quite believe that he's not with us to watch his story, but hopefully it will be very useful for others that are going through the same thing. That's the dream and the wish."
Throughout the programme, cameras are let into Derek's daily life in his last year, which includes sweet family moments but also a raw insight into his long battle with the after effects of COVID-19. The show also shines a spotlight on those in a similar situation to Derek, who are living with a serious illness or disability, alongside the people who care for them. Additionally, Derek's Story features reflections from his own carer, Jake.
