Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway wanted to make her daughter Darcey's 18th birthday special following the loss of her dad Derek Draper - and roped in a popstar friend to help her
Kate Garraway had an emotional weekend after her daughter Darcey turned 18, just weeks after the teenager carried her father's Derek's coffin at his funeral. Good Morning Britain presenter Kate, 56, revealed her daughter "didn't want a celebration" as it was too soon after Derek's death in early January, so they opted for a "small family lunch at home" - organised with the help of close friend Myleene Klass.
Taking to her social media on Monday, 11 March, to celebrate Darcey's milestone birthday, Kate wrote: "So yesterday our little baby Darcey got officially and legally big - 18 !!! She had said she didn’t want a celebration as it was too soon after her dad passing, but maybe a small family lunch at home .
Myleene, who attended Derek's packed funeral service last month, helped Kate organise the party and Kate later posted a sneak peek of it online. The former Hear'Say singer expressed her awe in an Instagram post, writing: "How she pulled it off, I can't believe it. It looks amazing." Kate's Instagram video featured behind-the-scenes party preparations with both women, as well as with lush pink cake topped with golden cherries.
