EXCLUSIVE: Prince William and Kate will watch ImACeleb 'to keep an eye on what Mike's saying', says pal
He’s already royalty but Mike Tindall could become King of the Jungle after agreeing to be the first royal on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.
“There is a bit of pressure on him but he responds well under pressure. He’s your go-to guy if you need something.There are few people who know the ex-rugby captain better than Harlequins player Danny, 35. Mike, 44, and Zara, 41, were guests of honour when he married his wife Jodie, 31, in a ceremony covered by OK! in 2016.
The couple are now raising their young family on the Gatcombe Park royal estate, with his mother-in-law close at hand for babysitting duties. Despite having their hands full with their brood, making time to party is still high on their agenda. “He’s one of the best human beings,” says Danny, recalling his first impressions of the 6ft 2in star. “I was 21 when I played for England for the first time and I was very nervous, it felt very scary, and I remember Tinds came up to me straight away and gave me a cuddle and told me I’d be alright. He always kept an eye out for me.”
Speaking about when he learned Harry and Meghan were to marry, he said, “I did text Prince Harry and said, ‘I’ve written my speech, I’m ready.’ And he said, ‘Sorry mate that job’s full but I do need someone to show people where to park their cars.’” Will he take in a memento to keep them close to his heart? “If I know Tinds I reckon he might have taken some chocolate instead,” says Danny.
Is he brave enough to eat a witchetty grub or deer testicles? “If he’s hungry he’ll eat anything – he’ll put anything in his mouth,” says Danny. In preparation for his stint in the jungle, Mike has sought advice from his rugby pal James Haskell, who was the fourth to get voted off the 2019 series after 18 days.
