The L.A. mayor’s race between Rep. Karen Bass and developer Rick Caruso remains too close to call.
Who will be the next mayor of Los Angeles? The race between U.S. Rep. Karen Bass and developer Rick Caruso on who will lead America's second-largest city was in a virtual 50-50 deadlock Tuesday night.
She's backed by President Joe Biden and the Democratic establishment and has been promising to use her skills as a coalition builder to heal a wounded city.Caruso is campaigning on an abrupt change in direction, arguing that Bass and other longtime politicians are part of the problem that has led L.A. into multiple crises.
"We wanted a campaign that looked like Los Angeles," Bass said. "A campaign that reflected the hope, the diversity and the brilliance of our city -- a vision of our city moving in a new direction... We have a vision of a city that is truly safe."
