Kandahar Blends Musical Styles In New Track [EXCLUSIVE]

Kandahar is the latest film to turn an eye to the twenty-year U.S. War in Afghanistan. While led by action heavyweight Gerard Butler, Kandahar aims to inhabit the moral gray area the United States itself occupied for decades in a more slow-burning fashion. The authenticity of the geopolitical thriller film can be traced back to its screenplay, which was written by former military intelligence officer Mitchell LaFortune.

The layered approach to storytelling in the film has been matched musically thanks to composer David Buckley, who blends instruments and musical styles to help Kandahar achieve its vision. Buckley is no stranger to navigating a range of tones; during a prior interview with Screen Rant, he discussed doing something similar on Netflix’s adaptation of The Sandman. Screen Rant is excited to premiere a selection from Buckley’s work on Kandahar in advance of the full soundtrack release.
