SYDNEY :Australia coach Graham Arnold announced that he would be staying on in the job until the end of the 2026 World Cup finals on Monday, saying he thought the success of last year's Qatar campaign was only the start for the Socceroos.
"I just love them, every time I put that Socceroos shirt on, or I'm around the Socceroos, I just bleed green and gold," he told a news conference in Sydney. His first task will be to prepare Australia for the Asian Cup back in Qatar early next year. The Socceroos won the continental title on home soil in 2015 but under Arnold were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the 2019 edition."Secondly is direct qualification for the World Cup because I really don't want to go through again. And thirdly, to achieve more than what we did at the World Cup.
