A fire ruined plans for the Episcopal Church of the Messiah on Long Island for their special Juneteenth service.
A fire on Long Island destroyed a historic church that has been around for more than 100 years. FOX 5 NY's Christine Russo has the story.An early morning fire ripped through a 150-year-old church, destroying the historic building. Longtime church members were stunned.
"We had flowers, everything was all set up. It was beautiful in there. Now it looks like one big burnt marshmallow. It’s just everything is gone."around 3 AM Sunday. Pieces of the stained-glass windows scattered across the lawn. And a thick smell of smoke still lingered in the air.
