Jujutsu Kaisen's latest fight hints at greatness.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The first half of Jujutsu Kaisen's second season hinted at how much potential the second half could have but one surprising fight just proved the anime is living up to that promise and exceeding it. With the incredible amount of anticipation fans have for the iconic Shibuya Incident arc, this is an incredibly good sign that these expectations will be met.
Season 2 Episode 7 of Jujutsu Kaisen focused on Mechamaru's fight with the curse Mahito. This is a relatively minor battle that helps set up the Shibuya Incident arc. Mechamaru is a fun character, but given how major of a villain Mahito is, the outcome of the fight was never really in question. Despite this, MAPPA went all out on the battle, adding in anime original scenes such as a series of rapid transformations as Mahito flees Mechamaru's attacks.
Jujutsu Kaisen's Latest Fight Hints At Better Things To Come The Shibuya Incident is filled with incredible fights. Jujutsu Kaisen is well-known for having revolutionary fights, but some of the battles in the Shibuya Incident arc puts the series' other clashes to shame. Mechamaru versus Mahito proves this – despite the fight itself not being considered a major duel in the grand scheme of things, the impact it has on the other characters is immensely powerful.
Of course, the episodes coming before this one also hinted at MAPPA's passion for the series. In episode 6, they created an anime original movie trailer for the Human Earthworm 4 that showed they truly understood the series' humor. Jujutsu Kaisen also kept in a seemingly unimportant moment between Yuji and an old classmate that emphasized his kindness, and further developed his dynamic with Nobara and Fushiguro.
Jujutsu Kaisen's Shibuya Incident Arc Will Be Incredible Until more episodes air, there is always the chance that MAPPA could fumble the fights when they actually get animated. However, given the studio's incredible track record, this seems extremely unlikely. Thus, the Mahito vs Mechamaru fight is a great sign for the rest of Jujutsu Kaisen's latest season.
