PUERTO PRÍNCIPE (AP) — Un juez en Haití interrogó por primera vez a algunos de los 18 colombianos arrestados hace más de dos años y acusados de formar parte de un escuadrón que asesinó al presidente haitiano Jovenel Moïse, dijo el miércoles un funcionario judicial.
Anteriormente, los exsoldados colombianos se habían negado a hablar cuando los interrogó otro juez asignado al caso, dijo a The Associated Press el magistrado Bernard Saint-Vil, quien nombra a los jueces en el caso.
Voltaire es el quinto juez que supervisa la investigación, y los jueces anteriores renunciaron por diversas razones. Uno dijo que su familia lo presionó para que no aceptara el caso porque temían que lo mataran. Los fiscales estadounidenses han descrito una amplia conspiración entre partes tanto en Haití como en el sur de Florida que pretendían beneficiarse de contratos lucrativos con el sucesor de Moïse, después de que este fuera secuestrado o asesinado.
