The Sony Pictures Entertainment marketing and distribution chief re-upped for another three years at the studio after speculation he would decamp. Josh Greenstein was recognized as part of 2018's Variety500 presented by VZMediaPlatform
Well entrenched in the studio marketing system, Greenstein reupped his contract in 2017. That same year brought hits such as Edgar Wright’s quirky action thriller “Baby Driver” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” which helped re-animate what was becoming a tired web-spinner franchise.
Since then, box office successes like “Peter Rabbit,” “Venom,” and “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” became marketing triumphs as their DNA presented hurdles of antiquated IP, and in “Venom’s” case, a Spider-Man-adjacent antihero without Spider-Man. Greenstein joined the company in 2014 after a long stint running marketing at Paramount, hired by Amy Pascal, Tom Rothman’s predecessor at Sony. Before joining Paramount in 2005, he was head of marketing for Dimension Films.
