Jones Road Superfund site's dry cleaning chemicals are still a danger. What the EPA will do next
and assistant director of the Texas Health and Environmental Alliance Rachel Jordan addressed the community about the site in early February, declaring the site far overdue for action from the EPA. The two called for immediate action.
“I have determined that the remedy for the Jones Road Groundwater Plume Superfund site is not protective,” Meyer said in a report. “This Five-Year Review Report specifies the actions that need to be taken for the selected remedy to be protective over the long term.”As the EPA works to restore the water quality in the area, officials are asking some residents and businesses to change from private wells to the public water supply to avoid exposure to tainted water.
The EPA will need to access private property, with owners’ permission, before the agency gets approval from the local municipal utility district to switch over water supplies.
