Leeds United forward Joel Piroe has scooped the award for Sky Bet Championship goal of the month for September. The former Swansea City star's first goal in the 3-0 win over Millwall last month caught the judge's eye, in what was a good day for Daniel Farke's side.
Piroe's opener came after an impressive team move involving Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Willy Gnonto, with Piroe finishing in style. He went on to add a second on 77 minutes, before Rutter wrapped up the win in the latter stages. Speaking after the win at the New Den, Farke said: "I'm proud of my guys today because I've played here several times at The Den, I know it's an unbelievably tough place to go and you have to be on it. You have to be there with a pretty complex performance. I know we as a club, have also waited I think more than a decade to be here with three points. You have to be spot on, this what we did today because the periods of the game when you have to show some steel and resilience.
"When I think about the first goal you can put it straightaway into a book anyhow and sell it because it's so wonderful. I'm pretty pleased for this. For me the most important topic to return back from such a tough place with a clean sheet for the dressing room and yes, to score three goals it's amazing. Pretty, pretty proud of the performance."
