During the last presidential debate between Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, and Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, at Hofstra University the candidates refered to him as Joe the plumber and debated his fear that Obama if elected will raise his taxes.
Wurzelbacher, who was indeed a plumber, became famous when he confronted Obama at a 2008 campaign. He accused Obama’s tax plan of conflicting with the American dream. Obama countered that the plan would help small businesses grow more quickly.
