Jim Ramsey, a longtime weather forecaster on Channel 9 in Chicago, has died at 69.
Jim Ramsey was a mainstay on WGN-Channel 9′s weather team for 30 years, perhaps best remembered for delivering forecasts on weekend newscasts.
Ramsey, 69, died of natural causes on April 8 at his Island Lake home, said his stepdaughter, Vanessa Wright. While at Channel 7, Ramsey was a weekend meteorologist while working as a news reporter three days a week. A November 1982 Tribune article described Ramsey as “a serious, low-keyed, thoroughly competent weatherman.”
WGN weekend news anchor Jackie Bange, who worked on the same newscasts as Ramsey for 24 years, called him “our lovable curmudgeon.”
