A Jet2 flight from Leeds Bradford Airport to Lanzarote was forced to make an 'emergency landing' at Manchester Airport after a bird hit the plane during take off.
The flight was scheduled to go from Leeds Bradford to Lanzarote, but touched down in Manchester instead following the bird strike. Flight trackers show the plane circling to burn off fuel, before making the landing. Fire engines and ambulances were ready on the ground at Manchester Airport to make the plane safe upon landing, reports YorkshireLive.Aviation Source News said on Twitter: "TOUCHDOWN! Jet2 flight EXS17CY, originally from Leeds Bradford to Lanzarote, has appeared to have landed safely into Manchester Airport following a bird strike on departure."
Leeds Bradford Airport, Manchester Airport, Jet2 and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for further information.
