A 55-year-old Jersey City man was killed early Sunday morning when he was struck by a vehicle that fled, the latest in an apparently growing trend of hit-and-run crashes in Hudson County. Police say Ralph Haynes was struck in the area of of Stegman Avenue and Garfield Avenue in Jersey City at 12:31 a.m. and he was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 3:38 p.m., Suarez said.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip at:The prosecutor’s office did not provide any information on the vehicle that struck him and fled.
