Jeremy Clarkson explains why The Grand Tour, the car show he presents with Richard Hammond and James May, had to come to an end with the current series
After more than two decades driving unsuitable cars with unsuitable modifications across unsuitable terrains, Jeremy Clarkson , Richard Hammond and James May are putting the brakes on. The Grand Tour is hugely popular but Jeremy says he is simply “too old” to continue. He adds, “It’s a young man’s game.” However, the intrepid trio has filmed one final film, in their favourite cars as a farewell to loyal fans.
Aficionados have got used to each episode out-doing the last, but this time, Jeremy says the show is going “back to the absolute basics” and giving fans a stripped back experience, allowing the three friends to bid fans the fondest of farewells. Ignoring the instructions of legendary producer Andy Wilman to drive three EVs down a British motorway, the team will instead head to Zimbabwe in three cars they’ve always wanted to own, a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-litre, and a Triumph Stag.
