JEA says they’ve seen a significant uptick in scammers targeting JEA customers.
The utility company says most commonly, scammers will identify themselves as representatives of JEA and request money to be paid in 30 minutes to avoid service disconnection. They ask for the money through a mobile payment site.
JEA says if customers are targeted by a scammer or unsure if the call, text, or email is legitimate, customers should call 904-665-6000.- Never provide or confirm financial information or personal information to anyone who called you claiming to be a representative. - Never purchase a prepaid card or use a mobile payment app to avoid losing service.
