James Forrest is out to emulate Celtic’s greatest trophy winning legend – but he does’t reckon he’ll end up on a plinth in Prestwick .
“I don’t think that will happen down there. That is an incentive for me but winning another trophy for Celtic is the only incentive I need. But the Hoops boss was also mindful of building for the future and was determined to develop the likes of new arrivals Yang and Nicolas Kuhn. Forrest had to wait patiently for his chance – and opportunities rose to depart the club he loves in January.
“It’s unbelievable but I am at an age where I wanted to play. I’m not 35 or 36. It was a discussion I had with the club but I was glad when the window shut and that was out of the way. “There were four or five of us who weren’t in the squads and maybe when the team was playing, we were at Lennoxtown doing a training session. To be honest, we all pushed each other.
