Fans instantly recognised Pete as a 'legend' and paid tribute to him on social media.
Tuesday night’s instalment of the ITV programme, hosted by Bradley Walsh, featured Tom, Estelle, Jessica and Pete, who were hoping to beat the chaser and take home a hefty sum of cash.
Jessica gave it a shot and bravely went for the highest offer of £45,000 and viewers were delighted, taking to social media to praise her for making it back to the team. After the episode, the Sinnerman took to X, formerly Twitter and penned: "Saddened to hear that Pete from today's Chase has since passed away in horrible circumstances. A true gentleman, a warm, engaging, and thoroughly entertaining opponent."
