The show will not reappear with one insider saying 'it was always something of a tricky sell' against a 'challenging' rival
ITV has killed off a major Saturday night show according to reports. The Sun said that after two series The Masked Dancer has been consigned to the entertainment bin after it came off second best against Strictly Come Dancing.
A TV insider told the Sun: “The Masked Dancer was always something of a tricky sell. But ITV thought it was worth taking a punt on a concept which had clearly struck a chord with the public as The Masked Singer. Joel’s quiz show, In With A Shout is set to return for a second series. Glee star Heather Morris was crowned the winner of The Masked Dancer series in 2022 after being unveiled as Scissors.
The show’s panel – Peter Crouch, Davina McCall, guest Dawn French, Oti Mabuse and John Bishop – oversaw proceedings in the 2022 series.
