Nottinghamshire Live readers have shared their thoughts on the new £25m NHS facility that will be built on Lister Gate
The news that Nottingham City Council has given the green light to transform old shops into a new health hub has got people talking on Nottinghamshire Live. It's been announced that the former Claire's Accessories, Mountain Warehouse, and Holland and Barrett stores on run-down Lister Gate in Nottingham city centre will become part of an important £25m health centre after the NHS got the thumbs up for their plans.
This new centre will be a "one-stop shop" where you can get lots of different tests done, like MRI, CT, x-ray, ultrasound, heart checks, ECG, and lung tests. The NHS leaders say this will help with the long list of people waiting for tests and make things easier for doctors in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Some readers mentioned Nottingham's previous NHS initiative 'OurFutureHealth' at 4-5 Exchange Walk. Plans were submitted late last year for discount retail chain Savers to open in its place. VanDyke replied, saying: "The outlet on Exchange Walk, dubbed 'NHS place', was a research project not funded by the NHS. It was only expected to be open for a couple of weeks while they gathered samples during their research stage. As a participant, I can truthfully say they spent a small sum to set up reusable temporary cubicles.
