The Carlton has opened in the former cinema and bingo hall in Orrell Park
It has been a community cinema, a bingo hall and even a hand car wash but now the iconic Orrell Park building houses a cabaret club.
The cinema was operated by Orrell Park Picture House Ltd and the stadium-style auditorium, had 870 seats in the raked stalls and 580 seats in the stepped rear floor. It ran for a few decades but closed in 1974 before reopening under the Coral Leisure Group as Carlton Bingo. Joanne told the ECHO she wanted to open The Carlton because of the lack of similar venues in the area. She said: "We already have the Vons Bar but we couldn't do all the events we wanted to because it's too small.
