Longtime James Bond casting director Debbie McWilliams rebuffs constant casting rumors regarding 007's potential replacements for the iconic spy.
James Bond casting director Debbie McWilliams recently rebuffed rumors regarding future 007 stars. Introduced in 1953 by author Ian Fleming, Bond charmed the world in the franchise's first feature film Dr. No starring Sean Connery as the MI6 agent. In the following six decades, Bond featured in 25 EON films and has been portrayed by six actors. With Daniel Craig concluding his five-film run with No Time to Die, speculation has begun regarding who will become the next 007.
I don't listen to any of it. It makes me die laughing, actually, most of the time. When I hear about who the bookies' favourites are, and who's number 15 and all this kind of thing... I mean, it's just hilarious – and the fact that people are remotely interested is even funnier, I think.
There's no conversation being had at the moment. [Series producer] Barbara Broccoli has been heavily involved in other projects. You know, it's not unusual for there to be quite a big gap between different Bonds, it has been known to have a five-year gap. So, no, nothing.
