A modest storm out of the North Pacific is now inching ashore and is expected to drop about a half-inch of rain at and near the coast and twice as much inland by late Thursday.
A breezy Pacific storm is spreading across San Diego County where it will produce sporadic showers that could last into early Thursday afternoon when the Padres hold their home opener against the Colorado Rockies at Petco Park, according to the National Weather Service.Forecasters estimate that the temperature will be 56 when the game starts at 1:10 p.m. That’s 12 degrees below average.
The winds will gust 10 to 15 mph out of the west. Snow will be falling in the local mountains.The system is expected to drop about a half-inch of rain at and near the coast and about twice as much across some inland valleys by Thursday night. Mount Laguna and Palomar Mountain could get 12 to 16 inches of snow. The snow could fall to the 4,000 foot level on Thursday, potentially affecting traffic on Interstate 8, east of Alpine, the weather service said.
