Benjamin Netayahu says the Israeli Defences Forces have broken through the outskirts of Gaza City in the north of the strip. Meanwhile, the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt is reopening to allow more foreigners to leave - after around 335 left yesterday.

Israeli troops have pushed through the outskirts of Gaza City, the prime minister has said.In a post on X, the prime minister said: 'Nothing will stop us. We will move forward. We will advance and win, and we will do it with God's help and with the help of our heroic warriors.

'The urban environment is seen as a much bigger challenge for the military than the rural ground they have covered so far.Boobytraps are believed to lie in wait, while Hamas will have prepared sniping and anti-tank positions, experts have previously said.And the Israeli army will have to contend with a vast network of underground tunnels, which Hamas has already been using to launch surprise hit-and-run attacks on soldiers.
