The Israeli defence minister has said the IDF has broken through into 'the heart of Gaza City' - and that the leader of Hamas in the enclave, Yahya Sinwar, is 'surrounded in his bunker'. Israel also says it has killed Hamas's head of weapons.
As we told you earlier, the Israel Defence Forces' Arab media spokesperson announced a humanitarian corridor was open for civilians in northern Gaza who wish to flee south.As he did yesterday, Avichay Adraee said the Salah al Din Road, which runs from the north to the south of the enclave, would be safe to travel on between 10am-2pm local time .
According to Israeli defence ministry agency COGAT, that timeframe has now been extended by an hour due to the 'substantial response'. The agency said the corridor would remain open until 3pm local time and would allow 'many more Gazans to move south for their safety'.
