Could the addition of All-Pro safety Kevin Byard be the piece that gets Philadelphia over the hump this season?
Are these built for another run at the Super Bowl? There’s no more important question in the wake of a deceptively quiet trade deadline Tuesday in Philadelphia. Not even with the division-rival arriving Sunday in a game that can directly influence the fate of the NFC East. Dueling with Dallas will be the first of a strenuous six-game stretch that will challenge an Eagles roster that’s been moderately modified by general manager Howie Roseman in the last three weeks.
The decades-long executive is prone to dealing near the deadline — eight of the 64 trades executed by the Eagles since 2016 have been made within three weeks of the league’s cutoff date — and by sending defensive tackle to the Atlanta Falcons , Roseman also cleared a spot that was filled by promoting Jones to the active roster on Wednesday. Julio Jones caught his first touchdown as an Eagle in Philadelphia’s Week 8 win over Washington. Byard, 30, affords the Eagles further flexibility.
