Years before DaisyJonesAndTheSix became a series, author Taylor Jenkins Reid opened up about the inspiration behind her beloved characters, giving credit to Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.
“I broke up with Lindsey in 1976. We’d only been in Fleetwood Mac for a year and a half, and we were breaking up when we joined Fleetwood Mac,” she toldin 2022. “So, we just put our relationship kind of back together, because I was smart enough to know that, if we had broken up the second month of being in Fleetwood Mac, it would have blown the whole thing. … Something happened that was, you know, ‘We’re done.’ And he knew it. It was time.
“Dreams” and “Go Your Own Way” were about their split. “Both songs kind of mean the same thing — it’s really about our breakup,” she added. “He’s looking at it from a very unpleasant, angry way, and I’m saying, in my more airy-fairy way, we’re gonna be all right. We’ll get through this.”. “One night we had a party and everybody was drunk and everybody was gone and it was just me and Mick, and we ended up spending the night together,” she recalled toin 2008.
Another romance explored in the novel is between band members Karen and Graham. While Reid hasn’t drawn direct comparisons, Christine and John were another one of the romantic relationships within Fleetwood Mac. The twosome were married from 1968 to 1976, also ending things around the time of the“I dare say, if I hadn’t joined Fleetwood Mac, we might still be together,” Christine toldin 1997. “I just think it’s impossible to work in the band with your spouse.
